  Η Ρωσία έχει να αντιμετωπίσει το σοβαρό πρόβλημα θνησιμότητας λόγω της υπερβολικής κατανάλωσης αλκοόλ. Και γι άυτόν το λόγο θεσπίστηκε νόμος (που ισχύει από την 1η Ιανουαρίου) που περιορίζει τα σημεία πώλησης μπύρας, καθώς και απαγορεύει την πώλησή της από τις 11 το βράδυ έως τις 8 το πρωί. Ένας στους πέντε θανάτους (20%) στην Ρωσία οφείλεται στην κατάχρηση του αλκοόλ ενώ στον γυναικείο πληθυσμό το ποσοστό είνια στο 6%. Γι ‘αυτόν το λόγο έχει αυξηθεί και η τιμή στα οινοπνευματώδη ποτά ενώ παράλληλα απαγορεύεται η διαφήμιση τους.
